How to set snow alerts that fit your ski plans

Choose a snowfall threshold, forecast window and daily minimum in stormstoke, then use alerts to know when to review a resort forecast.

Choose the resorts you can use, set a total snowfall threshold and a one-to-seven-day forecast window, and add a daily minimum if you want snow concentrated on at least one day. Treat an alert as a prompt to review the forecast and resort operations.

Follow resorts that match the decision

A useful alert connects a weather change to a choice you can make. Start with nearby resorts for day trips, or a small group around your planned destination. You can pause a resort when it is no longer relevant and give an individual resort its own threshold.

Sign in to save account alert settings and receive your selected delivery channels. Check that snow alerts are on, the resorts you want are active, and website or email delivery is enabled as intended.

Choose the total and the window together

The alert total is the sum of forecast snowfall over your selected number of days, beginning with today at the resort. stormstoke supports one through seven days and starts with a five-day forecast window. A threshold without its window is incomplete: the same amount spread over a week describes a different opportunity from that amount on one day.

For an illustrative setup, 20 cm over three days means the forecast sum for those three days must reach 20 cm. It does not mean 20 cm per day, and it does not require that the snow has already fallen. Choose your own threshold based on the trip you would consider; this example is not a recommendation about current conditions.

Add a daily minimum when concentration matters

The optional daily minimum asks whether at least one day within the forecast window reaches that amount. Both the overall total and the daily condition must be met. Leave the daily minimum blank if the total is all you need.

For example, a 20 cm total threshold over three days with a 10 cm daily minimum would qualify for daily values of 12, 5 and 3 cm. Daily values of 7, 7 and 6 cm reach the same total but do not meet the daily minimum. These numbers demonstrate the rule only.

Check delivery settings and revisit the forecast

Use quiet hours and the displayed time zone to fit email delivery to your routine. Keep in mind that saved preferences, paused resorts and email limits affect what you receive. The current forecast check in alert settings helps you inspect which active resorts meet your criteria.

An unchanged qualifying storm is not sent again on every refresh; a major forecast increase can produce an update. Open the resort forecast when an alert arrives to see the dates, update time and daily values behind the total.

An alert describes forecast snowfall. It does not confirm a resort opening, lift availability, road access or the snow surface you will find. Follow the forecast link, then check the official operating and travel reports before changing your plans.
