ABOUT STORMSTOKE

A clearer view of your next snow day.

Snow forecasts, mountain comparisons and storm alerts for skiers and snowboarders across the US and Canada.

Who’s behind stormstoke?

stormstoke is operated by Matt Dyck in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It brings forecasts and resort information together so you can compare mountains, follow incoming storms and decide what to check next.

Explore the snow map and resort directory without an account. Sign in to save your followed resorts and configure email storm alerts.

What the numbers mean

Weather forecasts and recent-snow estimates come from Open-Meteo. Resort details come from the sources identified on each mountain’s page. A forecast is an estimate at a particular location and elevation, and does not establish whether a resort, road or lift is open.

Our forecast methodology explains the update schedule, elevation choices, ranking rules and how we handle missing information.

How we publish

The stormstoke blog explains how to use the site and interpret its data. Guides identify their sources and publication and revision dates. The stormstoke byline identifies the publisher; it does not imply an independent mountain visit or a professional meteorological review.

We distinguish forecasts, modeled recent snowfall and resort reference facts. We link to original sources where available and label secondary sources and older information. We update an article’s revision date when its content changes.
